Aretha Franklin & Dr. King

ARETHA: Pride, Activism and Respect (A Tribute)
Aretha Franklin's contribution to social change in  the civil rights and the Women’s Movement are  celebrated through dance, poetry and song.  Dr. King was a close friend of  her father, Rev. C. L. Franklin, New Bethel Baptist Church, Detroit MI. Dr. King visited their home and spoke at their church on numerous occasions.• Franklin's million-selling hits "A Natural Woman" and "Sisters are Doing It for Themselves" eventually became anthems for the Women’s Liberation Movement in the 70's and 80's.

Performed by Penny Meacham, Sister Lucille Taylor, and Donald "The Soul Man" Hyman.

5:00 pm CommUNITY Dinner — Gathering to share what we can at our community table!
