Take a Knee Saratoga

Sunday November 5 at 1:00 p.m., City Hall

Flash Mob and Street Theater

"An event to create space for us to publicly acknowledge institutional racism, the harm it continues to do to our sisters and brothers of color and give them some tools to help change systemic injustice. We also help reclaim the focus of Colin Kaepernick’s protest back to the treatment of people of color and away from the false narrative of it being anti-American.”
With prayer and song, people will read the names of people of color who, while unarmed, have been killed by police officers and will take a public oath to work to dismantle systemic racism and work for racial equality." Reception follows at Temple Sinai. Free.

(This is a community initiative.)

Past Event

August 24, 2017, 6:00 - 8:00 pm

MLK Saratoga is co-sponsoring this important community action, which has been organized by The Saratoga Immigration Coalition, a non-denominational group of concerned citizens.  With three(3) starting locations - Union Avenue near the Track Entrance; Beekman Street; North Broadway, near the City Center and Temple Sinai, all peacefully-silent walkers will congregate at the Spirit of Life in Congress Park for a short program of spoken word and song.  [Locations have been chosen for their current and historical connections to immigrants.]
